Health Tourism and Hospitality Management in Sri Lanka: Careers, Curriculum & Future Outlook

📘 Overview

Health Tourism and Hospitality Management prepares professionals for one of travel's fastest-growing niches — wellness and health tourism — combined with the core skills of hospitality management. Offered as a BSc (Honours) by the Gampaha Wickramarachchi institute under the University of Kelaniya, it draws on Sri Lanka's strong Ayurveda and wellness heritage. It suits service-minded, business-oriented students who want to manage resorts, spas and wellness experiences for local and international guests.

It earns a future-proof score of 7.0 because global demand for health and wellness tourism is booming and Sri Lanka has a distinctive Ayurveda-led identity with a recognised shortage of trained professionals, though tourism remains sensitive to economic and global shocks.
