findmydegree.lk is a free, unofficial tool that helps Sri Lankan A/L students discover which government university degree programmes they are eligible for, based on their subject combination, grades, district and z-score.
Enter your three A/L subjects with grades, your district and your z-score. The system cross-references the UGC cutoff handbook and produces a personalised list of eligible degree programmes, sorted from the lowest z-score cutoff upward.
A z-score is a standardised score used by Sri Lanka’s University Grants Commission (UGC) to rank A/L students for university admission. It is calculated based on your raw marks relative to all students who sat the same subjects, adjusted for the difficulty of the exam that year.
Your z-score appears on your A/L results sheet issued by the Department of Examinations.
All cutoff data is sourced directly from the official UGC Handbook published for each academic year, including post re-scrutiny and post-BOAT updates. We do not create or modify the figures — they are entered exactly as published.
No. findmydegree.lk is an independent, unofficial tool for guidance only. We are not affiliated with the University Grants Commission, any Sri Lankan university, or any government body. Always verify your eligibility with the official UGC Handbook and your respective university before making any academic decisions.
All major A/L subject streams are supported — Physical Science, Biological Science, Commerce, Arts, Engineering Technology, Bio-systems Technology, and more. Any subject combination that appears in the UGC Handbook is included.
The UGC allocates a percentage of places for each district under the District Quota system. Districts with fewer applicants relative to available seats can have lower cutoff z-scores than more competitive districts. This is why the same degree may have different minimums depending on which district you are registered in.
Use the “Show all” option when entering your z-score. This displays every degree programme your subject combination qualifies for, regardless of z-score, so you can explore your options before your results are released.
We add new academic year data as soon as the UGC Handbook is published. The site currently covers multiple years including the most recent post re-scrutiny and post-BOAT figures. Select the relevant academic year on the first step of the checker.
A few common reasons:
No. findmydegree.lk only covers government university degree programmes listed in the UGC Handbook. Private universities and external degrees are not included.
Please send us a message with the degree name, university, academic year and the figure you believe is incorrect. We will verify against the UGC Handbook and correct it as quickly as possible.
