Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management in Sri Lanka: Careers, Curriculum & Future Outlook

📘 Overview

Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management trains the managers who run hotels, tour operations and large-scale events — one of Sri Lanka's most important and visible industries. Offered as a BBM (Honours) by Uva Wellassa University's Department of Tourism Studies, it is the only tourism degree in Sri Lanka with the international UNWTO.TEDQual accreditation. It suits outgoing, organised and service-minded students who want a management career across hospitality, travel and the growing events and MICE sector.

It earns a future-proof score of 7.2 because tourism is a major foreign-exchange earner with internationally recognised training here and growing events/MICE demand, balanced against the industry's sensitivity to economic and global shocks.
