Physiotherapy in Sri Lanka: Careers, Curriculum & Future Outlook

📘 Overview

Physiotherapy helps people move, recover and live without pain — treating injuries, restoring function after surgery or stroke, and managing long-term conditions through hands-on therapy and exercise. Offered as a four-year degree by the Universities of Colombo and Peradeniya, it is a respected, in-demand allied-health profession. It suits caring, physically engaged and motivating students who want a hands-on healthcare career that makes a visible difference.

It earns a future-proof score of 8.5 because demand for rehabilitation is rising with ageing populations, sport and chronic conditions, the qualification is highly portable overseas, and the manual, personalised care is very resistant to automation.
