📘 Overview
Arts — Information Technology is a four-year degree that opens the IT field to students from the Arts stream, offered at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura under its Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It builds practical computing and information-systems skills — programming, web and database development — without requiring a science-stream background. It suits arts-stream students who are comfortable with logic and mathematics (an O/L Maths credit is required) and want a route into the technology industry.
It earns a strong future-proof score because IT skills are in durable, growing demand locally and globally; the main caveat is that graduates need to build solid, demonstrable technical skills to compete with science-stream computing graduates.
