📘 Overview

Biosystems Technology (BBST) is an applied, technology-stream honours degree that uses science and engineering to solve real problems in agriculture, food, the environment and bioproducts. Offered across eleven universities, it trains “biosystems technologists” who can build sustainable, resilient solutions for food production, bioprocessing and bioenergy. It suits Technology-stream students who enjoy applied science and want a hands-on career in the modernising agri-food and bio-industry sectors.

It earns a moderate future-proof score: it targets genuinely growing areas — food technology, sustainable agriculture, bioenergy and biotechnology — though as a relatively new degree its industry recognition is still developing, so practical skills and specialisation matter.
